Challenges:

  1. On-Prem Windows server DR
  2. Backups
  3. Office 365 data and Exch migration
  4. Site wide WiFi infrastructure deployment

Solutions:

1. On-Prem Windows Server DR

Protec advised our client regarding their DR/BCP protection around their IT infrastructure. An additional server (DR server) was implemented to house a copy of the main Active Directory server and all other associated services provided by the production server. Protec implemented a HyperV environment with automatic replication between the production server and DR server. This allows the client to quickly failover in the event of a failure of production server.

2. Backups

Protec implemented a robust, multiple backup hybrid (on-prem and cloud based) backup solution to ensure the clients data is securely stored in the event of requiring a retrieval. Protec worked with the client to implement a suitable storage retrieval window for the data.

3. Office 365 Data and Exchange Migration

Our client required the migration of their on-premise Exchange server and data to Office 365. Protec worked with our client perform an in-depth audit and investigation of the data structure and Exchange environment. Protec configured our middleware platform to migrate the email and data to the clients new Office 365 tenant. In addition Protec rolled out the OneDrive client to allow end user access to the SharePoints sites (data). Lastly the rollout of the Office 365 application suite performed across the business.

4. Site wide WiFi infrastructure deployment

Protec performed an in-depth WiFi heat-map audit of the clients site to confirm suitable WiFi Access Point placement. Structured cabling was arranged for the client to facilitate the connections of the WiFi Access Points. PoE network switches were configured with multiple VLANs to allow multiple segregated networks to be broadcasted from the WiFi Access Points. MAC address filtering was implemented to ensure only authorised devices were allowed to connect to the corporate WiFi network. Guest WiFi access traffic was routed to an external web filtering services to ensure websites not suitable for access were blocked.
